Unrestrained Texas Man Killed in Single-Vehicle Calcasieu Parish Crash
Lake Charles – On October 29, 2026, shortly before 4:00 p.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop D began investigating a single-vehicle fatal crash on Interstate 10 East near mile marker 36. The crash claimed the life of a 43-year-old man of Montgomery, Texas.
The preliminary investigation revealed a 2025 Ford Escape was traveling east on Interstate 10. For reasons still under investigation, the Ford veered right, exited the roadway, and struck a tree.
The driver, who was unrestrained, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Impairment is unknown at this time; however, a routine toxicology sample was obtained and will be submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
While not all crashes are survivable, statistics show that properly wearing your seat belt will dramatically reduce your chance of being severely injured or killed in a crash. Louisiana law requires that every person in a vehicle, regardless of seating position, always remain buckled up. Properly wearing your seat belt is one of the most effective ways to save your life and reduce injuries during crashes.
